Freelance Interior Designer

Typical Tasks

  • working on high-end residential projects with our lead designer
  • communicate directly with clients and contractors in a professional manner
  • prepare all types of design documents and clearly communicate design intent to all involved parties
  • visualize designs using 2d collages and (if applicable) 3d renderings
  • understand and respect the lead designers vision and create designs that align with it
  • manage and monitor project budgets and timelines
  • source relevant items with efficiency and present them in cohesive proposals to our clients
  • represent our firm in meetings, conference calls, fabrication studios, and on site visits

Qualifications

  • minimum of 5 years of experience in high-end interior design
  • BA or higher in interior design or architecture
  • excellent communication skills
  • highly motivated, independent, organized, and extremely detail oriented
  • existing knowledge of contemporary and vintage furniture as well as interior design history
  • curiosity to discover new and unusual products and designers
  • ability to analyze architectural drawings, schedules, and quotes
  • manage junior designers and contractors efficiently and respectfully
  • work independently or as part of a small team
  • great understanding of the design and construction process
  • ability to handle several different projects simultaneously
  • skilled in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop and at least one CAD software. Ivy and Vectorworks are a strong plus.

Typical Tasks

  • working in close cooperation with a junior or senior designer
  • digital collaging using Photoshop
  • inhouse presentations of design and sourcing proposals
  • sourcing furniture and fixtures, organizing images
  • help with handling data (logging prices, dimensions, receipts)
  • cataloging and organizing inventory of furniture and props
  • sorting and updating visual reference and inspirational imagery
  • errands related to standard business operations
  • handling weekly social media

Qualifications

  • fluent in written and spoken English
  • available full time
